1910s Empress Bedroom Chateau de Malmaison Postcard
About This Vintage Postcard
Step inside the intimate and legendary sanctuary of Empress Josephine at the Chateau de la Malmaison. This room is a masterpiece of the Empire style designed by the architects Percier and Fontaine. It is famously draped in rich fabric to resemble the interior of a campaign tent. The focal point is the magnificent swan necked bed where Josephine spent her final years. The ceiling is decorated with golden rosettes and imperial symbols that radiate from a central canopy. This space captures the personal retreat of the woman who shared Napoleon's rise to power. It remains one of the most poignant and beautifully preserved rooms in French history.
