Step aboard a piece of cruising history with this vintage postcard featuring the MS Starward of the Norwegian Caribbean Line. Launched in 1968 from Bremerhaven, West Germany, the Starward was a pioneering vessel in modern Caribbean cruising, offering passengers a stylish and adventurous way to explore the islands.

This 12,949 GT ship measured 449 by 74 feet and could reach speeds of 21 knots, powered by twin screws. Originally based in Miami, she sailed seven-day itineraries calling on destinations from Jamaica to Haiti, with a unique stern car door and garage to transport trailers for island excursions. This postcard captures the elegance and excitement of this early NCL liner, a symbol of the company’s blend of Scandinavian seamanship and Caribbean fun.

After nearly three decades of service, the Starward was sold to Festival Cruises in 1994 and renamed the Bolero, continuing her life as a beloved cruise vessel in European waters. A wonderful depiction of classic mid-century cruise ships and the golden era of Caribbean cruising.

This postcard would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
