Celebrate the vital role of airborne surveillance with this collectible postcard featuring the P-3 AEW&C Airborne Early Warning aircraft.

The Lockheed P-3 Orion Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) variant was developed to provide enhanced radar coverage and long-range detection in support of counter-narcotics and maritime security missions. The first P-3 AEW aircraft was delivered in June 1988 and was successfully deployed to the Caribbean Sea in August of that year, marking the first time an AEW platform was used to disrupt South American cocaine shipments as they departed source countries en route to the United States.

Operated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the P-3 AEW&C performs maritime surveillance and patrol missions over the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea. A distinctive rotodome mounted above the fuselage houses a sophisticated radar sensor array, providing extended detection capabilities. With a range of approximately 4,500 miles and the ability to remain airborne for up to 12 hours, the aircraft combines endurance with advanced airborne early warning and surface search radar systems to locate and track suspect vessels.

This vintage photochrome postcard captures the uniquely equipped Orion in classic detail. Produced as a collectible reproduction, it would display beautifully framed or make an excellent addition to any modern maritime or law enforcement aviation collection.
