Honor the powerful ships that carried America’s air war across the oceans with this striking collectible postcard featuring four iconic World War II aircraft carriers.

This image showcases the U.S.S. Yorktown, U.S.S. Lexington, U.S.S. Wasp, and U.S.S. Ranger, each playing a vital role in the early years of the war. These carriers formed part of the backbone of U.S. naval aviation during some of the most critical battles in the Pacific.

The U.S.S. Yorktown, a Yorktown-class carrier commissioned in 1937, was heavily damaged at the Battle of Midway and later sunk by a Japanese submarine. The U.S.S. Lexington, commissioned in 1927 as one of the Navy’s first large carriers, was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea.

The U.S.S. Wasp, launched in 1939 and commissioned in 1940, was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sank south of Guadalcanal. The U.S.S. Ranger, commissioned in 1934, holds the distinction of being the first U.S. ship designed and built specifically as an aircraft carrier and was the only one of this group to survive the war.

This vintage-style collectible postcard commemorates these historic vessels and their service. Featuring traditional postcard markings and publisher information, it is ideal for display and would make an excellent addition to any World War II naval or aviation collection.
