A natural material, Mother of Pearl is made from nacre (the inner layer of pearl oyster shells). These buttons are prized for their natural luster and are ideal for doll clothes, heirloom sewing, or craft embellishment.

A whistle button is a vintage button with a single hole on top and two or more holes on the back, designed to protect the thread from wear by recessing it within the button. This construction method hides the thread and has been popular since the 19th century.
