This beautiful and highly collectible Edwardian-era postcard features the iconic Monsignor James Nugent Statue in Liverpool with the grand architecture of St. George's Hall rising prominently in the background. Published exclusively for Lewis's Series, this premium souvenir postcard dates to a narrow period between 1906 and 1910.

The photograph appears to have been taken shortly after the monument's official unveiling in December 1906. The exceptionally clean white stone pedestal, showing little evidence of weathering or staining, suggests the image was captured soon after the dedication ceremony, making this an early view of the monument.

The front of the postcard features a beautiful German-colored collotype finish, a premium pre-World War I printing process prized for its rich color, painterly sky gradients, and delicate layers of ink. This high-quality technique produced images with remarkable detail and depth that were superior to many later commercial postcard prints.

The image preserves several fascinating details of Edwardian Liverpool, including the original stone balustrade of St. John's Gardens and a distant city skyline punctuated by smoking coal-fired chimneys, reflecting the city's industrial character at the beginning of the twentieth century.

The divided back features the distinctive Lewis's Series circular logo, a vertical "Printed in Germany" trade stamp, and the printed halfpenny inland postal rate, all of which help confirm the postcard's early Edwardian origin.

The Lewis's Series logo indicates the postcard was published exclusively for Lewis's Department Store, Liverpool's premier flagship department store on Ranelagh Street. During the Edwardian golden age of postcards, major department stores frequently commissioned their own exclusive souvenir postcard series for residents and visitors, making these locally issued cards especially desirable to collectors today.
