Set of two Victorian (1880s-1910s) opaque white glass dome buttons with a metal shank. The small, hemispherical white dome is characteristic of "milk glass" or "white china" boot buttons.

Measure approximately 11 lignes, 6.9 mm, or 5/16"

Origin: Czech Republic, Bohemia. Cottage industries and specialized glassworks around Jablonec nad Nisou mastered the technique of pressing heated white glass rods into iron molds and soldering wire shanks directly to primitive backplates.

The shank: The visible texture around the base of the wire loops indicates primitive hand-soldering or brazing techniques found in factory production during the late 19th century before fully automated, single-piece plastic mold injection took over in the 1920s and 30s.
