1900s McKinley Residence Canton OH Postcard
About This Vintage Postcard
There is a profound stillness in seeing the very porch where a future president once welcomed the hopes of a nation to his own front door. This color tinted postcard features the McKinley Residence in Canton Ohio exactly as it stood when it was the heart of the historic 1896 front porch campaign. The elegant Victorian gables and sweeping wraparound porch are captured in soft tones reflecting the unhurried grace of the early 1900s before the city landscape began its inevitable shift toward the modern era.

Additional Information
This card was made expressly for S. H. Knox and Co. and printed in Germany as noted on the left margin of the reverse. The house was the focal point of McKinley famous 1896 campaign and later served as an annex for Mercy Hospital before being demolished. While the card features a divided back it lacks a postmark and was likely kept as a souvenir or sent inside an envelope. The printing process utilized high quality lithography which was a hallmark of German production during the golden age of postcards.
This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
