This postcard was produced by the prominent Philadelphia photographer and publisher J. Murray Jordan who was noted for using his own 8x10 view camera to capture topographical scenes. The Courtland Hotel was built in 1905 and was a centerpiece of Canton civic life for decades. The reverse features an ornate scrollwork banner with the words Post Card and includes a receiving postmark from Zanesville Ohio dated Oct 19 1906. A green one cent Benjamin Franklin stamp is cancelled by a wavy line machine postmark from Canton.
The back is addressed in pencil to Miss Carrie Linton at 1012 Vine Ave in Zanesville Ohio. The handwritten message on the front reads: Oct 18 1906. Had a nice trip home Tuesday at 12 49. Lola.
