About This Postcard

This antique color tinted postcard features the Norumbega Tower, located in Weston, Massachusetts, near the Charles River. Built in 1889 by Eben Norton Horsford, the stone tower was intended to mark the alleged site of an ancient Viking settlement known as Norumbega. The photograph captures the rustic fieldstone masonry and the large bronze commemorative plaque at the base. This landmark is situated about one mile from the historic Norumbega Park, a famous early twentieth-century recreation area.
