This charming postcard from 1900 features a man descending the front steps of the first Kurhaus spa in Dresden, Germany. Built in 1841, the Kurhaus was a grand establishment with a casino, ballrooms, a restaurant, a theatre, and a large terrace overlooking the spa gardens. Unfortunately, the original Kurhaus was destroyed during World War II and was not rebuilt, making this postcard a rare glimpse into a lost piece of history.

The postcard is an early Rotogravure print with an undivided back (UDB), indicating its production before 1907. The photograph was taken by Emil Römmler, who was honored with the title Royal Court Photographer for his exceptional work.
