1913. An antique embossed penny postcard with delicate gilding. "A Happy Christmas May there be within thy dwelling Love and God's own sunshine still". Winter pastoral Christmas postcards were treasured by their recipients during the Edwardian period. En Plein Air nature painting was considered an important genteel pastime for the leisure classes. A rise in "Sunday painters" followed. Variations of framed Winter Pastorals postcards were treasured and collected as the appreciation for the art form grew. This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
