1950s Vintage Argentina Apothecary Bottle Milk Glass Jar Aloe Vera

Mid-century 1950s to 1960s vintage milk glass apothecary jar with a plastic lid. The opaque white color of the glass comes from the addition of tin oxide meant to imitate porcelain. Milk glass first became popular during the Victorian era when it was introduced as an affordable alternative to porcelain. A resurgence of popularity for milk glass costume jewelry and other wares occurred in the 1950s. The bottom or base has mold number 1, but no maker mark. There is still some lotion detected on the inside and the inner part of the plastic lid. Measures approximately 5 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches in diameter.
