1900s Victorian Orientalism Medallion Trim

Edwardian, 1901-1909. Asian-inspired medallion pattern. Textile for the museum, private collector, and milliner. Red ombre on white. Linen. Rescued trim, edges are folded under and pressed; tiny pin holes remain. 1 3/4 x 31 inches long. 

Historical textile image reference of stage star, royal favorite, and trendsetter Lillie Langtry. The famous courtesan introduced the medallion fashion motif that went on to set the trend of medallion-embellished textiles during the period. Referenced by the costume designers for Anna, in Downton Abbey.
