1970s Vintage Porcelain Frog or Toad Figurine by Otagiri Japan

1970s. A popular mid-century export, this is a simplified reproduction of a 19th-century Japanese porcelain frog model from the Edo Period (1603 – 1868). The original diamond-shaped gold foil sticker with "O M C JAPAN" is on the base. The Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) was a Japanese-based company from 1954 to 1994. The company was also registered in New York and San Francisco. Otagiri imported wares from a variety of Japanese kilns, so it is impossible to know the exact maker of this piece outside of its country of origin. We combine shipping and invite you to visit our other listings.
