1907 Firecracker Kids Vintage Postcard Artist Signed Wells

1907. A little boy in breeches prepares to light a firecracker that sits on the ground in front of him. Next to him stands a little girl covering her ears in anticipation of the noise. "A sadder and a wiser man, He rose the morrow morn" is a quote from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner". 

A woodblock printed postcard in red and black, the signature colors used by artist R. L. Wells. Wells handmade his cards at a time when most others were printed by large publishing houses in Germany. The collectible cards are easily identified by the two-color prints, graphic quality, and use of quotations from the 17th century. 

This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
