Completed in 1926, it was designed by the architect Claud Beelman in an Art Deco style. The building rises eleven stories above Westlake Park and was originally a private retreat for the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile it may not be considered a skyscraper by today’s standards, it was quite an impressive and tall building for its time. The structure features a mix of classical columns, arches, and stylized Art Deco details, with a symmetrical Beaux-Arts form and a stepped skyscraper silhouette. The building also includes lavish interiors, such as a grand ballroom, numerous dining rooms, a gymnasium, a pool, and a bowling alley.
