"Snail Ride" ("Schneckenfahrt") was designed by Albert Caasmann for Rosenthal in 1921. A darling Jugendstil Art Nouveau figurine depicting a ground fairy riding a snail. Mold number K602, 3. The mark on the base reads Rosenthal Selb Bavaria, which dates this piece to 1924. Approximately 5 inches tall (12.5 cm).
Albert Caasmann (1886 β 1968) was a German sculptor and porcelain artist. He designed a series of elf and fairytale-themed figurines, including this Ground Fairy riding a snail. Caasmann's work is exhibited in the Porzellanikon's Rosenthal Museum in Selb, Germany.
